Cam Thanh, the coconut village on the edge of Hoi An, is a maze of water coconut palms threaded by narrow waterways — a landscape that stood in for the Mekong Delta during the war. The thing to do here is a round basket-boat ride: a local paddles you through the palms, spins the coracle in dizzying circles, and shows off crab-catching and coconut-leaf weaving. It's touristy and can get loud with music boats, but it's genuinely good fun and cheap. Reach it by bike from town in twenty minutes. The village is free to enter; boat rides are paid.
