Five limestone and marble hills rising straight out of the flat coast south of Da Nang, riddled with caves, pagodas and carved shrines. Thuy Son is the one you climb: stone staircases lead past Buddhist grottoes to Huyen Khong Cave, a vast chamber lit by shafts of light through the roof, and up to viewpoints over My Khe Beach and the sea. A lift saves the first steep flight if you'd rather skip the steps. The stone-carving workshops at the base have worked this marble for centuries. Wear proper shoes and bring water; the climb is short but sweaty.
