A small, richly decorated temple on the edge of Hoi An's old quarter, built in 1653 and dedicated to Quan Cong, the deified Chinese general revered for loyalty and integrity. Traders once came here to swear oaths and settle disputes. Inside, a gilded statue of the general sits flanked by his guardians and two life-sized horses, one white and one red. The colours are bold and the incense heavy. It faces the old market, so it pairs naturally with a wander through the food stalls. One of the sites on the Old Town ticket.
